Overview
Check each section below to see if your child qualifies for Georgia's Pre-K program.
Age and Residency Requirements
To participate, children must be four years of age on September 1 of the school year and must be a resident of Georgia. Acceptable proof of age includes birth certificate, passport, hospital record of live birth, legal document, or official document from another country. Acceptable proof of residency includes a current lease, property tax notice, homeowner’s insurance bill, mortgage statement, current vehicle registration form, any utility bill listing the residence as the service address, letter from a shelter or letter from employer, if employer provides housing.
If a child doesn't participate in Pre-K as a four-year-old, they may be eligible to attend the Pre-K Program as a five-year-old. However, programs can deny enrollment to children who are age-eligible for kindergarten. You should check the enrollment policies of your local programs. Children who are six years of age or older on September 1 are not eligible for enrollment in Georgia’s Pre-K Program.
Other Information Required After Enrollment
All children enrolled in Georgia's Pre-K Program need to have a Certificate of Vision, Hearing, Dental and Nutrition Screening (DHR Form 3300) on file within 90 calendar days of program entry. Form 3300 must be signed by a private practitioner or representative of a local Department of Health. Immunizations (DHR Form 3231) must be up to date, or affidavits must be on file within 30 calendar days of program entry.
