The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) is offering special resource for families whose children ages 5-12 engaged in virtual learning. JW ELC The Academy of Early Learning has agreed to care for school age students engaged in virtual learning/participating in distance learning and who need child care while their parents work. JW ELC will ensure each student receives the care, supervision, and support they need during the school day. The program, called Supporting Onsite Learning for Virtual Education (SOLVE), provides additional child care options for students whose school systems have opted for a virtual learning model
Mr. Taurus Jackson is the Academy Director for JW ELC. He has years of experience within the Childcare Industry and Georgia Department of Family and Children Services enjoying various roles, which has provided him with a wealth of understanding, knowledge, and experience. He is a graduate of GSU with a B.S. in Child and Family Development and a 2nd-year graduate student at Strayer University. He is determined to stress the importance of early childhood education. Mr. Jackson conducted site visits at licensed childcare centers, family child care homes, and afterschool programs to ensure compliance with all GA DECAL (Bright from the Start) licensing rules and regulations. While doing so he discovered a passion for the importance of early learning programs and started a career as a Childcare Director. He will oversee The GA Pre-K Program, Early Learning Literacy Program, and all programmatic policies and procedures to help create a quality learning environment for all families served.
